Vande Maataram!

Every Indian should know what the following means, doesn't he ?

vande maataraM
sujalaaM suphalaaM malayaja shiitalaaM
sasyashyaamalaaM maataraM
shubhrajyotsnaa pulakitayaaminiiM
pullakusumita drumadala shobhiniiM
suhaasiniiM sumadhura bhaashhiNiiM
sukhadaaM varadaaM maataraM

Composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and set to tune by Rabindranath Tagore, here's the English version of the song as translated by Sri Aurobindo.

Mother, I bow to thee!
Rich with thy hurrying streams,
bright with orchard gleams,
Cool with thy winds of delight,
Dark fields waving Mother of might,
Mother free. Glory of moonlight dreams,
Over thy branches and lordly streams,
Clad in thy blossoming trees,
Mother, giver of ease
Laughing low and sweet!
Mother I kiss thy feet,
Speaker sweet and low!
Mother, to thee I bow.

Wanna GoogleWhack ??!!

Googlers,

For all those who havent heard about googlewhacking, well , its an interesting game that tests your analytical thinking capabilities. Well, here s the rule of the game. Just type two words in google and if you get one search result - just one search result, you win.

I was going through some random blogs when I read a blog about Sachin's tennis elbow. The blog said Sachin's tennis elbow was cured by Dr.Hyuma, ex-wife of Wasim Akram!!! Interesting, isnt it ?
I wanted to make sure the information was correct. So When I googled for Tendulkar and Hyuma, Wow! I googleWhacked!!!

Now when you read this blog and google for the same 2 words, this blog might also be listed in your result. Thats why the no. of google whacking words keep reducing. Well I found one! Try your luck buddies!

Am I where I should be?

Today is my last day in this building. I am cleaning up all my official and personal stuff from my machine. ... Its going to be a new office, a new cubicle, a new machine and for that matter, even a new mail id!! Though Im all excited about it, im going to be the same 'software engeer' reporting the same manager :(

Some how, this thought crept into my mind all of a sudden... Am I pursuing my passion? This might sound trivial on first thought, but come to think of it, are we really doing what we wanted to do, what we wanted to pursue in our careers?

As soon as we complete our higher secondary, all that we decide is whether to choose engineering or medicine. But Why? Just because these are the two fields that earn you the 'most important thing in your life - money' isn't it? Go and ask random engineers and doctors out there if they chose their careers because they were really interested in it. " What the hell! You make money and that is what matters." would be the reply from most people. After finishing engineering, most of the 'engineers' are satisfied with their jobs, while the most of the rest seem to lose interest in the 'engineering journey' and you are right, the next thing that comes to their mind is an MBA, to put it better, they make sure MBA is what they are dreaming for. Iam not saying this is the case with all of us, but most of us.

In the race to make it big in life we tend to smother our dreams for the sake of our future and get along with the herd. We never really do care if we eventually end up conquering the goal we set out for. But how many of us really do??? Just give it a thought, guys while I get back to cleaning up my machine now.

The brighter side of blogs...

It has been more than four months after the deadly Tsunami hit the country, but still the tears havent dried out from the faces of those in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. If you watch the tamil news channels, you will find out that there are still many people who still are suffering , without even being provided the basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing.

On the brighter side, good people and blogs give you hope!

http://www.sumankumar.com is an excellent blog by a chennai blogger who covers many aspects about the tsunami affected people, not usually covered by the media.

He talks about lots of people, incidents and a number of pointers to many relief agencies and charity organisations.

Kudos to all these good people and the good blogs.

Beyond all these amazingly growing technologies, what really matters is humanity, isnt it ?
