Google Spreadsheets!

Its been quite sometime since I have been using Google Spreadsheets and I will have to say that it is quite good. Not fully user friendly though... but for a web application, its a job well done!

I tried downloading the WolrdCupTracker from Microsoft site.
(I know its late now.. Should have posted this long time back! Fuck the work! :( )
This is a complete score tracker for the 2006 World Cup Finals. The spreadsheet is full of complex formulae and calculations occur across several different sheets. This is how the sheet looks in Microsoft Excel.

When I tried to import this to Google Spreadsheets, I got this!

Google Spreadsheets imported almost everything correctly except for a few colour and the image at the top. This is pretty impressive considering that the product is still in its beta.

Some features that will be useful

- Link it with gmail and gtalk.
- Bring in the gmail contacts auto-complete to share spreadhseets!

Few things that I found missing

- The most obvious being the ability to create charts :(
- Not able to draw borders around cells

Hope these come out in the next (first) release! :) Though this does not have the capabilities to replace Excel completely, the sharing options and collaboration features will come in handy when you dont have a copy of Excel!
